Difficult Decision

For my loyal readers who have already gotten married, was your hair choice a tough decision? I am having the hardest time trying to decide how to wear my hair and haven't been able to find pictures, other than from my friend's weddings.

However, I literally jumped out of my chair last Wednesday when I saw Megan Joy's hair. Everyone has their own opinion, including my parent's (who weren't too fond of the style), but for some reason, that 'do is calling my name! I will most likely wear it in a sleeker fashion, but I really like the curls, the glamour, etc.

What do you think? I want honest opinions.

Toot! Toot!

Bridal party transportation has been booked! Country Club Limo is our fabulous vendor and they are actually remodeling this bus in June AND in time for our wedding.

This beauty even has a bathroom (Yes!)

Ok, I'm now sore from blogging. Sad. So I'm going to get some more rest. Until next time!

Yummm, Cake!

I've been on and off the couch all day trying to ease the ache of this head cold I'm dealing with. And nothing really helps, but I figure cake always makes me feel better.

So why not post about our wedding cake vision?

We are having a far-from traditional reception. To go along with this theme (and to save some money on the way) we have decided to forgo a large wedding cake for all guests and have three small cakes instead.

We have a nice dessert selection through our caterer and hope too many guests don't notice the missing piece of cake at their spot. However, family and out-of-town guests are welcome to enjoy a slice at the Sunday brunch.

So what are we thinking?

Beautiful pedestals, like this one.

Different tiers

We are doing three different one-tier cakes with three sizes around, all the same batter and filling. Here are our inspirations!

And our favorite! This will be the 8 inch cake.

I can't wait to see the final cakes. And by the way, my pastry chef, Francie at Encore Bakery, is so sweet. Her smaller cakes are extremely reasonable and the taste test was divine. If you are looking for a cake or have a sweet tooth on a cloudy day, give her a call.

"It" finally caught up to me

And by "It", I mean the nasty flu virus that has been going around. Sore throat, stuffy nose, swollen everything. Yeah. No fun.

No More KC Trip...

Yeah, I know how you're feeling kiddo.

My weekend predicament(s)

Matt and I are headed to Kansas City tomorrow for a weekend with friends and a chance for me to pick up my pretty white dress! Of course, he won't be coming to that appointment with me, but we just ran into a small problem...well two small problems.

One -

For some reason, the weather has decided to unload 4-10 inches of snow on KC tomorrow. I thought the snow was gone? To solve this problem, we'll probably end up leaving tonight.

Two-

If you aren't into sports and/or have been living in a hole, Mizzou beat Memphis last night in an amazing game - creating a spot for the TRUE tigers in the Elite 8. What time is the game? 3:40 p.m. CST. And what time is my dress appointment? 3:00 p.m. CST. Thus the problem.
Wish us luck this weekend! And GO TIGERS!

The Snuggie Cult

This "Snuggie" deal is getting out of control, in my opinion. I'm going to apologize in advance if you are a Snuggie Lover (read: weird), because I am anti-Snuggie.

First of all, I recently heard that the Snuggie stole the idea from another company, known as the "Slanket". I'll admit, I hate both of the names, but I also dislike stealers even more.

So what happens when the Snuggie-rage gets out of control?

This! This happens!

Sadly, you can find more on the story, which Glamour jumped on, here. But truth be told, I'm with this blogger on her review, which states...

"Omg, it's a "baby snuggie"! Actually, it's a .Peekaru, a fleece-y vest/baby carrier hybrid. As a new mom, I can't get enough of all the wacky baby contraptions for sale. This thing looks like Star Trek meets the Baby Bjorn.

If this is not enough, there have been talks in the works for months now on Snuggie Pub Crawls.

Yes, that's right. If you own a Snuggie and are willing to wear it in public, you can attend the first ever St. Louis Snuggie Pub Crawl. Date TBD. But if interested, you can find more information here.

I don't know what the hype is all about. Seriously, it's just a backwards robe!

What are your thoughts on the Snuggie?

Oprah!

That's right, I said Oprah.

My cousin and his wife have worked EXTREMELY hard to grow a really great business over the years - Sunlight Saunas - and it has officially paid off. Oprah gave them a call, requesting information for an upcoming show on "High-Tech Ways to Extend Your Life".

Well, today is the day! Their sauna will be featured on the Oprah Winfrey show at 4 p.m. with Dr. Oz and I couldn't be more excited for them! If you have time, please watch it, or check out the teaser here.

Seven Months

I will be a Telken seven months from today!

George Clooney? In my neighborhood?

That's right! George will be filming his movie on my street for the rest of the week. I just called Matt to tell him...his response? "Maybe I'll invite him over." Well, Matt, I say that is a great idea. Please do. :-)

Maplewood Goes Hollywood; Clooney In Neighborhood Shooting Movie Scenes
Expect Street Delays During Filming Of Movie

MAPLEWOOD, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - If your travels take you to the Maplewood area any time this week, start early and expect delays. That's because Maplewood is going Hollywood as filming will be taking place Monday on the George Clooney flick, "Up In The Air," Many streets will be off limits for parking and others will be closed altogether.Beginning at 7:00am, Sutton Blvd will have no parking from Hazel to Elm on both sides of the street. These closures will take place every day until Friday, March 28. Also this Friday, traffic will be interrupted periodically at Flora and Sutton Blvd.Filming of the movie began March 2, and is expected to last until April 21.The movie is about a professional who specializes in "career transition counseling" looks to accomplish his two main goals in life: to accumulate 1 million frequent flier miles, and to land a job at a mysterious management company called Mythtech.

Do I have a green thumb?

Not so much. But thankfully, my parents do and both mom and dad came over to spread the wealth to me and Matt over the weekend.

We have a fabulous backyard. The previous owners had three vegetable gardens, herbs on steroids (seriously, they were huge), and some of the most beautiful rose bushes you have ever seen. Knowing nothing about landscaping, gardening, etc., Matt and I felt really overwhelmed and didn't know where to start.

So lucky for us, my green-thumbed parents headed over to talk through some options. First things first, we need to be patient and wait to see what sprouts up around the yard. We can already see the buds on flowers and in the veggie gardens and are so curious as to what comes back this year. In order to save money and precious weekend time, we're going to hold off until late April and figure out what needs to be done then.

For now, however, we have some great low-maintenence annuals to choose from. Our color scheme this first year are yellows, blues and purples. Here are some great options that can hang out in the sun all day and don't require a lot of watering. I love flowers, so hopefully after this year, I'll have a green thumb myself!

Vinca's

Salvia

Portulaca

Melanpodium's
Marigold's (plus, rabbits hate them)

Lantana

What are your gardening plans this year? Do you feel the same way I do? Frightened? :-)

Spring...

...is finally here! Happy first day of Spring, everyone.

I feel the need to tell you about my Spring favorites...

Fresh flowers
Rain showers

Easter candy

Grilling out

Reading outside

Blooming trees

Brisk walks

Iced coffee

Fresh-cut grass

Baseball
Sun
And the snow will stop. Please, tell me it will stop.

What is your favorite thing about the season?

GO TIGERS!

Alright, KU just won, but that doesn't mean Mizzou won't do the same!

I hope the time flies...

...because I can hardly wait to move into our new home. Matt and I have been fixing the place up, as you have probably seen from my posts, and I keep thinking, "wouldn't it be perfect to live here?!" Upcoming projects include finishing the entire top floor with a new coat of paint and landscaping the yard. We'll keep the yard under control this year, with low-maintenence flowers and a small vegetable garden. But next year once I'm in? We're going all out!

Another reason I just want to move in?
This guy!

How cute is he?! Matt and I want to get a dog so badly, a Goldendoodle to be exact. I don't know if it's harder not living in the house or not having a dog.
[insert sad face here]
Fingers crossed the months fly by!

Wiedemeier Wedding!

This past weekend, two of my really good friends, Mike and Heather, tied the knot! It was a GREAT wedding. Heather was stunning in her white dress, Mike looked so handsome and the ceremony was beautiful.
Their rehearsal was last Thursday night and the dinner was at Franco in Soulard. If you haven't been...go, immediately. This place was full of antique finds...from old, refurnished doors as art, to the wood wine and glass holder behind the bar. Wow! What a great place to hold a rehearsal dinner. If only I had found it first. :-)
Me and Tara taking full advantage of the open bar...

The bride and groom to be!

Some more pictures throughout the night...
I love my Mikey
We're next!
The wedding reception was at the Sheraton in Clayton. They totally remodeled and it is very contemporary right now!
For some reason, I didn't take any pictures. I even had pockets in my dress to hold a camera. Don't know what I was thinking! So thanks to the Lisa's for the following pics.
Heather coming down the aisle.

Yay! Mr. and Mrs. Wiedemeier...

Cutting the cake! I love cake. This is the first time I actually ate wedding cake. I'm usually dancing, but they cut it early, so I snuck a few bites.
Me and Lisa!

All of the girls during the cocktail hour. I have some gorgeous friends!

And of course, a dance floor pic is necessary

We liked to call Table 2 the "Fun Table". Trust me, we were.

It was such a fun night! We ended up at Bar Napoli having yet another dance party. They had a great DJ.
I'm so bummed I didn't get any pictures of me and Matt, but we definitely have enough. :-)
All for now!

I helped build a closet

You heard right!

I helped Matt build a closet. I'll admit that I love putting things together and using power tools on occasion, but to build a masterpiece (yes, that's what I like to call it) was thrilling. Matt says he feels like Mr. Big from SATC becuase he "built me a closet" with a great place for all of my shoes.
Do you remember the before picture? As I like to call it, "The Fire"

And then two weeks ago after we finished painting...

A glimpse of what are floor boards will look like

And now?

Check out the closet with the shelving! We (and by we, Matt) bought the shelves from the Container Co., what a fantastic place! They have so many amazing things, other than containers. Who would have thought?

I thought you would want to see a close-up of my gliding shoe racks. That's right, I said gliding.

Now, all that is left is to install the floorboards, touch up some paint, paint the sliding doors and assemble. We're almost finished! What do you think of our 2-week project that has turned into 2 months? It has been a lot of work, but wow, I can't complain with the amount of space we now have!

I've been a bad blogger...

Sorry I haven't had time to post lately. I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done - it's been really busy! I'll catch you up with everything now...

First of all, let's talk Bachelor! Can you believe what happened? From my last post, it was obvious that the rumors were circulating... luckily, Molly isn't preggers - phew! However, it was still extremely dissapointing how the finale was handled. I have to admit, I have been Team Molly all along, not too sure why, I just like her! And to say I hate Jason isn't the truth, what if the show producers scripted this? You never know what happens behind the scenes...
I didn't get to see After the Final Rose II, what happened? Are Jason and Molly still together?

All I know is that I'm super excited Jillian is going to be the next Bachelorette! YAY! She was my favorite, second in line to Molly. She is down to earth, funny and beautiful. Fingers crossed that she finds love.

Alright, enough about reality TV. Let's talk reality! Next post...closet updates.
