An Important Cause - Please Read

I just got an email. A VERY important email, actually. So important that I'm posting it here and will encourage you to do the same on your own blog. We are surrounded by cancer. Most of us have had family members or friends suffer from it and many have pulled through stronger than ever. Take the time to sign the petition.

Start of email:
This takes no time at all, so you should do it because if you've never been impacted by cancer, then chances are very high that one day you or a loved on will be.

Proposed Mastectomy Law Change (written by a surgeon); I'll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank you' they muttered.

A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

This Mastectomy Bill is in Congress now. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on.

PLEASE! Sign the petition by clicking here.

Stand by Me

My dad just sent me a video which absolutely made my Monday! It is a composite audio/video of song where the editors laid down different tracks by different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished product is incredible! Check it out here.

Happy Monday!

8 Things

My good friend, Lauren, tagged me to complete this post. And since I haven’t blogged in what seems like forever, I’m happy to have a good topic!

Here's how 8 things works:
- Mention the person that tagged you.
- Complete the lists of 8's.
- Tag 8 friends.
- Go tell them you tagged them.

8 Things I Am Looking Forward To...

1) Watching my shows tonight – man I love Thursday night TV! Grey’s, Private Practice, The Office, Into the Motherhood, Parks & Recreation…good thing I have DVR.
2) Making more money at the garage sale this weekend. Already made $78!
3) Spending time with Matt this weekend.
4) Decorating the rest of the house – still so much to do.
5) My makeup trial on May 2nd!
6) Turning the big 2-6 on May 19th. And what am I going to do? Watch GLEE’s season premier, because I’ll admit, I love show choir. Right Wies? Pizazz!
7) Registering, sadly I’m looking forward to the insane process but just can’t find enough time to get it done.
8) My October wedding!

7) Stopped by Cuisine d’Art to look at my caterers cake stands
8) Went to bed early since I had to be up at 5:30 this morning

8 Things I Wish I Could Do...
1) Cook, but I’m wishing no longer, I’m going to make it happen
2) Make a lot of money
3) Get a puppy right this instant
4) Find the motivation to work out more often to lose the last 8 lbs
5) Cure cancer
6) Travel more, work less
7) Win at least one race in my fantasy NASCAR league
8) Write and write well

PSA of the day

Today I was reading over my friend Kara's blog at Inspired Kara . I absolutely love her blog - it's full of DIY projects and adorable Etsy finds. Well, she posted about an amazing find on Etsy and I immediately opened up the link to learn more. The No Carnations' shop has, well, like Kara said, brilliant items!

What did I do? I completed my first Etsy purchase with these adorable clip on's, probably one of the easiest ways to spice up a pair of pumps, flips or flats.

I can't wait to get these babies and put them on a pair of shoes. Of course, I'll provide pictures! What do you think?

A. B. C...A!

When I saw a post on N's, The Wishes and The Glitches, about the ABC Game, I had to get my own letter. I, too, adore quizzes and after getting my letter, I’m not so sure I do anymore.

What are some things in my life that are important to me…and that begin with the letter ‘A’?

After thinking for awhile, here are my 10 favorite ‘A’ things (in no particular order):

Antiques: The best finds are old finds, i.e. Etsy.com

Accessories: Shoes, rings, headbands, scarves. You name it. I love it.

Attraction: The first time I saw/met Matt was one of the best feelings in the world. However, no, this scene does not resemble that meeting. It just reminds me of what attraction is. Get your head out of the gutter!

Animals: I’m a dog lover and always will be.

Amore: All you need is love.

Alcohol: Bud Light Lime and Captain and Diet = Delicious

Attire: A girl can never have too many articles of clothing

Autograph: I love a good autograph and I have a pretty good collection of athletes right now
Airplane: Leads to travel and traveling leads to culture and education

Accents: People with an accent are mesmorizing to me. I could sit and listen to a good accent all day long. And I also love home accents; a splash of color can do wonders to a room
Ok. Now that I look at my list, I'm a fan of quizzes again. That was fun! Plus it gave me a break from my "Case of the Friday's".

Most of you already have a letter, but if you don't and you would like to play, let me know!

Happy Friday!

PR People

If you have ever truly wondered what PR is and what I do (refer to About Me section), here is your chance! This is very close to accurate and I find it quite amusing.
